The Motive behind Collecting Facebook Likes and Comments

Have you ever looked at your Facebook News Feed, and suddenly there is a picture of a child who has some sort of illness, with a caption saying, "Say amen on comment below" and followed by prayers that the child will recover from their illness? Or a photo with a caption "Like this photo and see the magic"? If you follow what the photo ordered, most likely you are helping them to market their pages.

Why is that? It is widely known that if an article or a post has a lot of likes or comments, Facebook will try to contact the page admin and offer to put an ad there. Automatically the price of the page will get very expensive because there will be a lot of people visiting the page. Of course, every ad posted, the owner of the page gets paid.

Interesting right? Moreover, if the likes and comments on these pages increase, the selling price of the page will be higher. Therefore, many people are trying to gather likes and comments hoping that Facebook will contact them for advertising.

There are many controversies regarding this method, it seems as if the page owner looking for profit for themselves by ‘tricking’ others. A lot of pages are uploading photos of the sick, with a hope that someone will comment to pray. Clearly their motive was to gather likes and comments to add the selling price of their pages, not to really pray for the disease to recover. What do you think?
