A Never-Lose-Its-Crowd-Street Food

Miranti Devina

GulTik, a legendary gulai in Blok M.

For some people, hearing a word “GulTik” would be strange. Yup, for some people who have not heard it before must be guessing what that is. Even some people guess it as “Gulai Tikus” (gulai dish made with rat meat). But nope, don’t worry, GulTik is not related with rats, but because it is located in the junction of Bulungan Street and Mahakam Street (junction is called “tikungan” in Indonesia) in Blok M area.

So people call it “Gulai Tikungan”. GulTik is apparently not just a street food cart with a seller, but fifteen sellers. Although wrapped in street food concept, GulTik proves that street food culinary can be people’s favorite choice. Since 1980s, GulTik has already been popular and always full of customer day by day.

The delicious gulai with cheap price is the main reason why people always come back to GulTik. Even the sellers can get profit from 200 portions of gulai on weekend.

Open from 4 p.m. to 3 a.m., GulTik offers you the dining sensation at the ordinary roadside with full crowd and the tempting taste of beef and innards cooked in gulai spices in its broth. Yummy!
