We surely remember the G30S/PKI moment that we learnt about in school. Of seven great generals hunted by Tjakrabirawa soldiers (Indonesian soldiers who joined with PKI), only General A.H. Nasution escaped, but his right hand and last child passed away.

To remember historical events, the 6th President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono inaugurated General A.H. Nasution's former home on December 3rd 2008 as a museum. Set in Jalan Teuku Umar, Menteng, that building keeps a lot of high-value stuff.

Located near Suropati Park, you can spot that building easily. In the fence written “Museum Jendral Besar Dr A.H. Nasution”. In the front yard, you can also spot General A.H Nasution's sculpture between two cannons.

That building consists of two sections, the first is the main room of the general and the pavilion. Inside the main room, there are nine exhibition spaces. The first room is the living room. You can spot Pak Nas (General Nasution) sculpture made from bronze. The second room is a workspace with a bunch of his favourite books. The third toom is the VIP room designed by the general himself.

Another room is the general’s bedroom. The witness of Tjakrabirawa soldier cruelty. There is a diorama showing bloody incidents. You can see a bullet break through the door and wall. The tense atmosphere you can feel while looking around the room.

Another diorama shows Pak Nas’s rescue attempt. He jumped the fence and headed to the Iraqi ambassador witnessed by his own wife and daughter, Ade Irma Suryani. Sadly, both of them were killed by bullets.

There is also Ade Irma Suryani’s bedroom catered with her favourite stuff, dolls, shoes and a mini TNI (The Indonesian National Armed Forces) uniform. On one wall, there is a painting written “Papa… Ade salah apa?” (Papa, Am I doing wrong?”), the last word before Ade Irma Suryani was killed.

Another tense atmosphere you can feel the first time you come to the pavilion. There is a diorama showing Captain Pierre Tendean, the right hand of General A. H. Nasution kidnapped. Captain Pierre Tendean was kidnapped by a Tjakrabirawa soldier after confessing himself as General Nasution.

The Great General A. H. Nasution Museum is worth visiting to reflect the general patriotic spirit to protect this nation by sacrificing himself and his family.
